COVID-19 and Depression
Depression and suicidal thoughts have increased during the Coronavirus pandemic. Isolation and loneliness have skyrocketed suicide rates. At the same time, millions of people are losing their jobs and the economy is slowly crumbling. On top of that, people who have had COVID-19 have suffered from depression. The virus affects everyone differently. Some people are having serious side effects. It is possible that 6 Dogs was dealing with COVID-19 related depression and everything just came to a boiling point.
The Pressures of Success
Hip Hop is extremely competitive. Once you taste success, you have to keep achieving more success. The music industry is demanding and it puts a lot of pressure on artists. One hit isn’t enough to sustain your career and expensive lifestyle. Rappers have to keep innovating and coming up with new ways to make money. The music industry has been hit really hard by COVID-19. Musicians and rappers have not been able to tour because of COVID-19. Touring is a major revenue source for musicians. Without that income, many musicians are struggling and forced to look for new work.
6 Dogs made mentions about the pressures of success and how hard the music industry grind is. Ultimately, 6 Dogs couldn’t take it anymore and he committed suicide.
6 Dogs Legacy
6 Dogs was young but he achieved so much in his life. He leaves behind an impressive musical legacy. Underground hip hop is the backbone of hip hop. Underground artists help to shape the sound of hip hop. Mainstream hip hop is only mainstream because of what underground hip hop artists do. Once an underground artist blows up with their unique style, they change the game. 6 Dogs changed the game, and he will be missed.
