B3retta Interview
How You Want It?
King Mezzy produced an island vibe feel with this summer banger track called “How you want it?” and B3retta is gunning down all the haters. Island vibes and a reggaeton feel help to really solidify this track as a modern-day contender. Also, this song has a very Miami feel to it which would be perfect for any club on South Beach.
Fiji
Whenever you hear a B3retta track you know it’s him. His raps are ferocious and channel many different elements of modern music. The best thing about B3retta’s music is the high production quality and value. Most of B3retta’s songs have an islandy chill feel because of the steel pan and synth effects. This song is an absolute banger and you need to go check B3retta out now! We reached out to B3retta for an interview and luckily he agreed.
Rock the Hip Hop B3retta Interview
Where are you from?
I am from the Bronx but I am currently living in Rockland County in a small town called Orangeburg.
How has your city influenced your sound?
Growing up I was influenced by New York artists like 50 Cent, Fabolous, and Busta Rhymes. New York City has most definitely shaped my mentality. Every day is a grind and that reflects in my music. My dad always told me when I was young, “It only takes one hit record to change your life.” So I have been chasing that ever since.
What instruments do you play?
I wish I knew how to play an instrument. I respect any artist that has that in their repertoire. If I had the opportunity to learn I’d love to be able to play the piano.
What’s your best performance?
I love being on stage. My best performances come after I take a shot of whiskey or two to settle the nerves. I still get butterflies.
What is your worst performance?
I don’t think I’ve ever had a “bad” performance. I always have fun if it involves music.
Tell us about your newest single.
Fiji (Produced by Call Me G) is an upbeat summertime party record. I was inspired while being on a Royal Caribbean Cruise looking out in the middle of the ocean in 2019. Once I heard the beat I pictured myself on a jet ski and in a nightclub on the ship with a drink in my hand.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
5 years from now I see myself comfortable in my career. I am a special education teacher in the Bronx. Music has always been a passion of mine but it is only a hobby right now. I hope to have much success with the little bit of time I get to put into it.
Does your family support your musical journey?
My family knows I have been involved with music since I was kid. They want to see me successful in anything that I do. My ambition comes from them.
Who do you want to collaborate with?
I’d love to collaborate with R&B singers like The Weeknd, Chris Brown, Kehlani, and Jhene Aiko. I am a huge fan of the Rap/R&B sound and it would be a privilege to work with any of these artists.
Any new projects you are working on that you want to share?
I’m working on my EP “Home of a Thoroughbred” my goal is for it to be released sometime in the summer of 2022.
