Tykena is bringing back the funk with her newest offering entitled ‘How you Feel’. Almost reminiscent of an old-school George Clinton track, ‘How you Feel’ feels good and familiar with a modern twist. In 2022, we need more funky and soulful music! Lizzo brought back the funk and now Tykena is taking it home!

What city are you from?

Georgetown Delaware

How has your city influenced your sound?

Unlike most cities, the eastern shore doesn’t have a specific sound. So when I presented my sound the support came rushing in, it was so overwhelming but in a good way. Once I saw my peers dancing and singing along to my music that made it easier for me just to be ME!

Tell us about your best performance.

My best performance was my very first performance! I remember it like it was yesterday! There was a little spot downtown Seaford, and it was the spot everyone went to on the weekends Including Sundays! This one in particular Sunday, February 3, 2013, I sang at that Little nightclub and packed it out! That was my very first time hearing people sing my music… I just couldn’t believe that everyone knew my songs Word for Word! That was my best performance because it made me realize that music isn’t just a dream it’s who I am!

Talk about your latest project.

Often times I question myself when it comes to new projects, but not this last one! The studio session was one of my favorites! I knew exactly how I wanted everything to sound all the way down to the ad Libs so I didn’t take long to record the song at all!! I put so much energy into this record.. there’s no way you won’t be able to feel the vibes. I’m so ready to release “How You Feel” to the world!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Where do I see myself in 5yrs… that’s a good question! Where ever God takes me.. I made it here because of his plan, my plans kept failing! So I’m going to keep following the man who created my plan..
