Rock the Hip Hop Interview with E Slidin
Where are you from?
612 15th & Roosevelt Ave, Richmond Ca
How has your city influenced your sound?
My city consist of players, hustlers & savages. Majority of us had it rough so that plays a major part in the substance that I choose to write about. All my OG’s do music & my dad is a wordsmith; always had a studio in the house even till this day. That’s where the majority of my inspiration came from.
When I was growing up in the early 2000’s there were a few artist from my city embracing that melodic type feel so I ventured out into that lane. But I don’t only take inspiration from my city I’m inspired by whatever my energy resonates with. I’m into the dancehall/reggae & that RNB feel. I’m different.
What instruments do you play?
I was never sat down and actually taught how to play instruments by anyone in specific I just learned what I could by ear, But I play around with guitar/bass & sometimes piano

What is your worst performance?

Tell us about your newest single.
“Fallen” is a song about a true experience. Dealing with a woman that goes hot & cold but still puts forth the effort to stick around. I heard the beat, paced in my kitchen for like 15 minutes and came up with the hook.
Punched the rest of the lyrics off the top of my head & then I just let the song sit for a year cause it was only one verse. After that I sent it to Mellinium to mix and master and then we decided to drop.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
On tour with my people, selling out stadiums and entertaining people in the masses the way I’ve always dreamed of. Drifting professionally.. and if not professionally I’ll be living comfortably enough to do it in my spare time.
