Joshua Turchin Interview
Does it Make You Feel Better
“Does it Make You Feel Better” is one of those songs that truly makes you feel better! The vocals of Joshua Turchin are absolutely beautiful. The more we hear from Joshua Turner, the more we want! Joshua Turner is a performer who can do it all!
He can sing, play piano, play guitar, and has a multiple-octave vocal range. Not only is “Does it Make you Feel Better” a positive and well-written song, but it is also a song with a message of standing up for yourself. Bullying has become a major problem in America and it is incredibly brave for Joshua to tackle this subject in such an emotional and revealing way. “Does it Make you Feel Better” is a truly impressive song that exposes that bullies are just insecure people who are lashing out instead of working on their problems.
For years, Joshua Turchin has been making music but has really refined his chops by diving into musical theatre which is what really gives him such a dynamic and fierce presence. We are so proud to have Joshua featured on our site and to have interviewed such a young talent.

Rock the Hip Hop Joshua Turchin Interview
Where are you from?
I am originally from South Florida, but I now live in NYC!
How has your city influenced your sound?
I’ve definitely been influenced by the modern musical theatre sound of midtown NYC. I live relatively close to the theater district, and I absolutely love going to the theater to hear the sounds of Pasek and Paul, Alan Menken, Stephen Sondheim, and the other incredible composers who work to entertain audiences around the world.
What instruments do you play?
I play 13 instruments, including piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums, Cajon, accordion, Melodica, harmonica, a little bit of Banjo, Theremin, ukulele, and a few other instruments!
What’s your best performance?
I feel like my best performance was at the Hollywood Bowl’s production of The Little Mermaid where I played Flounder. It was such an incredible experience performing with Harvey Fierstein, Peter Gallager, and Alan Menken, and with over 17,000 people in the audience.
What is your worst performance?
I think my worst performance was on tour with A Christmas Story. It was my second year being on the tour, and I was a swing. In the first preview of the show, without any rehearsal, I had to go on for the character of Schwartz. Also, I was really sick. It was certainly a night I will never forget.
Tell us about your newest single.
I recently released two songs that I’m really excited about. I happened to co-write these songs with the incredible Victoria Shaw. One is called “Does It Make You Feel Better”, which I wrote as an empowerment song to encourage people to stand up for themselves. The other song is called “Anxiety”, and is about, well, anxiety! Both are out on all major music-streaming platforms.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself still composing, performing, and orchestrating!
Does your family support your musical journey?
They do! They’ve been so supportive of me and have helped me a lot throughout my musical journey.
Who do you want to collaborate with?
I would LOVE to collaborate with Alan Menken, I grew up listening to his music and my style has been so influenced by him.
Any new projects you are working on that you want to share?
I’m working on a new musical which I’m hoping to share soon, and I have several new songs I’m working on releasing soon!
