Fam Band Interview

Day On Mars

Fam Band is a grand slam of epic jams and good times. “Day on Mars” is a feel good throwback to summer highs, groovy beats, reggae roots and a beautiful description of Mars. “It is a beautiful day” and as a result a beautiful song. Unique and creative, Fam Band is making music fun again!

One day we will all be living on Mars and Fam Band is preparing us with the perfect song. “It’s a beautiful day” and Elon Musk would probably approve of this, but we love this song because it’s fun. Fam Band makes funky fun music and they incorporate hip hop with other genres of music. “Day on Mars” is an excellent song that blends genres effortlessly.

We were lucky enough to interview Fam Band about their funky new music and some of the big things they are accomplishing.

Rock the Hip Hop Interview with Fam Band

Where are you from?

Fam Band “rings” out of the Nasty Nati (Cincinnati, OH) bringing a bit of midwestern class to garage band grime pop.

How has your city influenced your sound?

Growing up in Cincy we were exposed to mostly radio hits from oldies through the 90’s so our style is mostly influenced by rock hip-hop and pop music.

What instruments do you play?

We play guitar, bass, piano, ukulele, harmonica, drums and the computer or anything we can get our hands on.

What’s your best performance?

Day on Mars

What is your worst performance?

Luckily, we haven’t ever had a performance that we would say is our “worst.”  We feel so lucky to play music that all performances are great, even if they don’t work out as expected.

Tell us about your newest single.

We are so excited to announce that “Day on Mars” (featuring B. Stille of Nappy Roots), the new single by Cincinnati’s dopest band in the land, Fam Band, is now available everywhere music is sold.

The song describes an interspecies romantic escapade between a Martian born Don Juan  whose ancestors were Earthlings and a beautiful Earth born woman who is taken aback by her Martian lover’s fine red spread.

The beat was made by Cincinnati based producers Jordon “Frankly Speaking” Schneider and Edwin “O.E. Bangerz” Chisley.  Shredding guitar supplied by Johnny Alfi of the band Peephole.  Mixing and mastering by the super talented Alex Lakis.  Especially huge thanks to B. Stille of Nappy Roots for spitting the perfect verse on the track and truly showing some midwest love.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Making music as a family and putting out songs that we love to listen to that make us smile.

Does your family support your musical journey?

Our family is our musical journey.  We all love music and we have as many family members featured in our songs as possible.

Who do you want to collaborate with?

This track with B.Stille of Nappy Roots was really fun and we have been a fan of Nappy Roots since 2001.  they are based right across that Ohio river in KY so the collab made a lot of sense.  We love collaborating with members of our extended family but we also like to invite musicians that we grew up loving.  We have some really cool guest features coming up.

Any new projects you are working on that you want to share?

We fly by the seat of our pants so you’ll hear about them when they are ready.  We don’t want to let out any surprises quite yet but our fans will be stoked.
