Interview with Aiden P

Cupido Estupido

Aiden P is a romantic soul who loves hip hop and Latino music. Even though “Cupido Estupido” has a simple Reggeaton beat, it is a catchy and infectious tune. Essentially, it is a song about heartbreak and how he lost someone special in his life. Oddly though, the music is very happy yet the lyrics are actually pretty sad.

Aiden P manages to make something that should be negative into a positive. His style is very catchy and very in sync with what is currently trending in Latin Hip Hop. If you are a fan of Latin Hip Hop then you should really appreciate what Aiden P has to offer with his style. Anyways, check out his music because he is a very talented singer. We had to reach out to Aiden P for an interview and he agreed.

Rock the Hip Hop Interview with Aiden P

Where are you from?

I grew up in Buffalo NY.

How has your city influenced your sound?

I think my city influenced my sound by the lifestyle we carry here. We are a city of good neighbors but yet our crime is at its highest almost every year. If you grew up in the city of Buffalo, specifically the west side, you have seen some shit. I haven’t heard anyone in my area with my style of writing or even my flow. I’m a storyteller though, I could tell you this, if you grew up on the west side of Buffalo, you have a story, and that’s why a lot of people in my city relate to my lyrics. I write from the heart.

What instruments do you play?

Surprisingly, I play the flute lol. I played it all through grammar school because my cousin, Enita, played it, and growing up I looked up to her. I wanted to be just like her lol. Then I got into drumming and I played that for a little bit, nothing great though. I was always a songwriter. The funny story is I started writing and making music with her but that’s a different story for a different day.

What’s your best performance?

My best performances were when I was younger. I performed with my cousin, Alex, and my little brother, Hungie, who passed away in 2009 at a very young age, 14. It was in Miami FL for a festival they were having. The crowd went NUTS and it was just a great time.

What is your worst performance?

My worse performance was when I was 15. We used CDs to give the DJ back then for our beats. Well, the cd was scratched and the whole beat was skipping. Lol, it was in Rochester NY, and we were opening up for NeYo who was just starting out so it was a small club. I remember we told the DJ, to stop the beat, and we started just rapping With no beat and it came out good. The crowd was loving our energy!

Tell us about your newest single.

My newest single is called “Cupido Estupido” which means “Stupid Cupid” in English. The song talks about Cupid striking the wrong person and now I have to live unhappy because of it. On my YouTube video, I translated the entire song into English in the description box for my fans that can’t understand Spanish but still like the song and my music. I think that’s important so that everyone knows what they’re listening to.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I hope to have finally had a big fan base and possibly even be signed by a major Latin record label. That has always been my dream, to build a career out of my talent, music. Music is my passion. My dream is to have an entire sing along with the audience at a concert. Lol, that would be so dope.

Does your family support your musical journey?

My family is AMAZING! True supporters. My managers are my Mom and my cousin’s wife. And of course, my cousin, her husband, is always calling me to give me tips or ideas for my next song or feature or even just an update on some kind of music platform that’s a hot topic at the moment. My entire family is always sharing my music with whoever they meet lol. My wife and kids are also amazing. They make sure all my statuses and social media are on point with the latest “trends”.

Who do you want to collaborate with?

Man, I’d love to collaborate with so many people, but the one person I will fall to the ground if I ever made a song with would-be Ivy Queen! Shheeeeeesh! Where do I begin! She is my idol!!! I love that woman! I started writing music because of her flow! The next person would be Arcangel. Get me in a studio with either one of them, it’s a guaranteed hit.

Any new projects you are working on that you want to share?

Right now I’m working on my album entitled “Capítulo30” which means “chapter 30”. “Cupido Estupido” is actually a song from the album. I wanted to give people an idea of what’s coming soon. A little taste. I actually stopped making music for almost 12 years so this is huge for me. I stopped after my brother died. This project will hopefully be visual to most of the tracks on it. Stay tuned, it should be out this summer 2022.
