Interview with Ds Dakati
The world better watch out because on June 6, 2021, King’s Pain is dropping. Ds Dakati is changing the game with his unique style of hip hop. We had the privilege of hearing one of his newest tracks called “Angels n Devils” and it is bad ass. The track is very well mixed and is a song with a message.
Angels n Devils
There are angels and devils all around us. You have to be a rebel like Ds Dakati and prosper. There is so much pressure in this world and Ds Dakati tackles subjects like this head on. From welfare to success, Ds Dakati has been hustling and grinding hard. You can’t touch Ds Dakati because when you have gone through as much as he has… he is untouchable at this point. The flow on this track is clean and reminds me of old school Nas. It is awesome to hear real hip hop nowadays. Usually the best music that we hear is underground hip hop that is on the verge of an explosion.
King’s Pain
Rock the Hip Hop is eagerly anticipating the release of Ds Dakati’s new album, “King’s Pain”. “Angels n Devils” is a new track off the album and really hammers the theme of the album. In order to be a king, you must go through trials and tribulations. We reached out to Ds Dakati for an interview and luckily, he granted our request.
Here is our interview with Ds Dakati
What made you want to become a musician?
My father was a percussionist from a famous band and he used to drag me around studios but I fell in love with Hip Hop all across the board.
Which instruments did you play in high school?
I did not play any instrument in high school but I was part of a group called N.T.S (Notorious) and my stage name was M Smooth Lol!!!!!
What accomplishments do you see yourself achieving in the next five to 10 years?
Well, my first one I would like to accomplish is to sell out a show in my hometown of Inglewood, Ca at a place called “The Forum”. When I was a kid, my Abuelo (Grand Father) used to take me there to watch Laker games there, but 10 year plan to be able to make money in my sleep.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?
You are probably not going to believe me but my hobbies are investing in stocks and crypto, reading music articles, and my all time favorite is playing poker.
What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?
Hands down the strengths that make me great is my discipline, I organize all of my moves, and I do research to find what I need to make it happen.
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
Music is my passion, so for me its my therapy because hooks, bars, and beats give me peace of mind and without it, I don’t know what I would be doing.
Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.
My favorite thing is live shows and recording. My least favorite thing is the business of music. People can make paperwork complicated.
What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
The best advice I’ve gotten is to learn the rules and then break them. HAHAHAHA!
What’s your process for dealing with performance anxiety?
I just tell myself to get out of my head and know that people came and paid their hard earned money to see me, so give them a Lit Ass Show!!!!
What would you do if you made a mistake during a performance?
Simply said, KEEP GOING because sometimes the audience doesn’t know you made a mistake, but don’t act like you did make a mistake because if you stop they will know.
