One and Only and Interview with Jackson Dollinger

One and Only

“One and Only” is a fun pop song with a prominent bass line that eases into a more mellow electronic feel. In the beginning, the song starts slow with some acoustic guitar and then it slowly propels into a ferocious and exciting rampage of electronic, funk, and pop.

Jackson Dollinger is anything but dull. His music is exciting and his voice has a bit of emo mixed with pop. Everything about “One and Only” is interesting because it blends so many different sounds and manages to keep you captivated.

“How am I supposed to know what to do?” and other sentiments make this song very emotional and passionare. Jackson Dollinger is young but understands how to connect words with emotion. We are really digging his newest single and we wanted to share it with all of you.

Because we were so excited for this release and other singles like “How It Goes” and “Look at You”, we asked Jackson for an interview. Luckily, he agreed.

Rock The Hip Hop Interview with Jackson Dollinger

Where are you from?

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California.

How has your city influenced your sound?

There is so much talent in L.A. and I think being in a place where so many creatives reside has definitely impacted my sound. I grew up listening to local radio stations like 104.3 MyFm and Real 92.3. I think that’s where I got my mix of pop and hip-hop from.

Do you play any instruments, if so, what are they?

I do! I play the drums and the piano.

What was your inspiration for this song?

When I wrote “One and Only,” I wanted to make an upbeat pop song about being by yourself and missing a person you felt complete with.

What is the favorite single you have produced so far? Why?

“One and Only” is probably my favorite self-produced single. I made the song when I was 14, and at the time this song was a major learning experience and a level up from my previous work. I love the baseline and how dynamic the song is. It is constantly switching up. I also love the transition from the hook to the second verse.

Tell us some details about how you produce your music.

I’ve been producing for 3 years and I use the software Logic Pro X. I make beats based on exactly what I’m feeling at the moment and make tons of different genres.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself attending a university in 5 years, still acting, and making music.

Does your family support your musical journey?

Yes! My parents have always supported me in both my journey as an actor and an artist. I’m so grateful because I know that, unfortunately, creatives do not always receive so much support from their family.

Who do you most want to collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with Machine Gun Kelly or anyone in the Internet Money collective.

Any new projects you are working on that you want to share?

Yes! I am currently working on a new Disney Channel show called “Pretty Freekin’ Scary” which is set to release in the summer of 2023. I also was in a new Apple TV+ show titled “Life By Ella” that recently came out. Lots of new music is on the way as well!
