10 Spooky Songs that Make for The Perfect Halloween Music Playlist
Spooky Halloween Music
Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. Why? Because it is awesome. It is the one day of the year when everyone can dress ridiculous and where the spirit of letting go is embraced. A big part of Halloween is the spooky music associated with the holiday.
Spooky Halloween music is the best. From Marilyn Manson to Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, music that is eerie is perfectly suited for Halloween. Halloween playlists dominate October and there are many great Halloween songs.
How Many Days Until Halloween
How many days until Halloween? Zero! Halloween can be right now! Why do you have to wait until October 31st to dress up and listen to spooky Halloween music? Every day is Halloween for me.
You don’t have to wait until Halloween to dress up and have fun. Also, you don’t have to wait for Halloween to listen to spooky Halloween music. One of my favorite Halloween songs is called “It’s Almost Halloween”. Guess who wrote it? Peaceful Piranha.
Halloween Songs
Obviously, I am a bit biased about my song “It’s Almost Halloween”. Of course, I think it is the GREATEST Halloween song of all time! Other than my song, there are many great Halloween songs. Here are some of my favorite Halloween songs:
1. Screamin’ Jay Hawkins – I Put a Spell on You
“I Put a Spell on You” is a classic that many artists have covered, but Screamin’ Jay Hawkins wrote this spooky Halloween song that never gets old.
2. Oingo Boingo – Dead Man’s Party
Oingo Boingo is a unique band that mixes rock and funk into a bizarre yet exhilarating package. Unfortunately, Danny Elfman left Oingo Boingo to score film soundtracks, but Oingo Boingo will always have a special place in my heart.
3. Insane Clown Posse – The Dead Body Man
No one does horror better than Insane Clown Posse. Many people love to discredit this group, but most will never give them a fair chance. ICP is one of the most unique hip hop groups that have created its own cult following and have successfully cemented its legacy in hip hop culture.
4. King Diamond – Halloween
There are few singers that have the ability to span several octaves ranges clearly, precisely, and powerfully, but King Diamond can nail those high notes. Creativity is the cornerstone of King Diamond’s performance and it doesn’t get any more Halloweeny than King Diamond’s “Halloween”.
5. Alice Cooper – Feed My Frankenstein
It’s hard to believe that Alice Cooper DID NOT invent Halloween, but it’s true! Alice Cooper is one of the most theatrical performers of the 20th century and if you’ve been to an Alice Cooper concert then you know it’s practically a haunted house.
6. DMX featuring Marilyn Manson – The Omen
In the 90s, both Marilyn Manson and DMX were on top of the world. Both artists were controversial and the fact that they teamed up for a dark and eerie song makes me really miss the 90s.
7. Bobby “Boris” Pickett – Monster Mash
On this list, I’ve tried to come up with non-traditional Halloween offerings, but Monster Mash is just too much of a classic. The vocals are so unique and goofy, but they make perfect sense for Bobby Pickett’s classic Halloween song “Monster Mash”.
8. Ghost – Rats
Ghost loves Satan, but it is presented in a cartoonish and almost comedic style. Ghost is a great band that knows how to rock, but also, not take themselves too seriously. I’ve noticed many rock fans either love or hate them, but I have nothing but love for them. Their style perfectly represents Halloween and they recently wrote a song for the movie “Halloween Kills”.
9. Screaming Lord Sutch & The Savages – Jack the Ripper
Screaming Lord Sutch was a fascinating character to emerge in the 1960s because he was one of the first to come out with a horror-themed concept. If you watch early concert footage, then you can see that people were genuinely horrified by his performances which would be mild by today’s standards.
10. Peaceful Piranha – It’s Almost Halloween

I truly feel that Peaceful Piranha’s song “It’s Almost Halloween” is worthy of a Halloween mention. It is a silly yet catchy song that pays tribute to several different Halloween costumes, characters, ideas, and traditions.
